Orthotic Therapy in our Dublin podiatry clinics
ORTHOTIC therapy is the science of using functional foot orthotics to treat complaints to the lower limb.
A true orthotic is a completely customised arch support, designed specifically for an individual to treat a specific problem. No two individuals will have the same orthotic. Heat moulded or off the shelf generic devices are not orthotics, but arch supports. Orthotics vary in look, design, materials, aims and costs.
The key to successful orthotic treatment is clear diagnosis followed by a thorough examination/prescription process, which must incorporate a walking/biomechanical gait examination. Following this, client understanding about how and why an orthotic will work for them is very important.
Why our orthoses are more effective
Our orthotics use the latest 3D foot scanning techniques incorporating Delcam foot scanners in all our clinics. Our Dublin Podiatry Clinic, and Athlone Foot Clinic are designed to use the latest technology to aid you in your road to a better quality orthotic and Insole.
We use the latest technologies to 3D print devices from the best materials available to ensure control, comfort, accuracy and best outcomes with minimal waste for our environment.
Devices are CadCam milled from the best materials available to ensure control, comfort, accuracy and best outcomes.
What are orthotics?
Orthotics are specially designed innersoles which are worn inside your shoe. Orthotics help to support your feet and correct any biomechanical imbalances which may be the cause of your pain.
Orthotics are generally separated into (3) different types - Custom, Prescription and over the counter. At My Feet we offer all types of orthotics to our patients.
It can be quite confusing understanding the differences between the types of orthotics and which orthotic is best for you. This is why we like to give as much information as possible to patients to help them make an informed decision. We provides more information about each type of orthotic when we assess your needs. At your appointment, your podiatrist will assess your feet and will talk you through the different options available and will give advice on which type of orthotic will best manage your symptoms.
